Hi, my name is Federica Iuso and I attended the Fashion Culture and Management course.
In my portfolio I studied the fashion in India. The Victoria and Albert museum in occasion of the Indian festival have organised an exhibition about the beautiful fabrics hand crafted in India.
"The Fabric of India", this is the name of the exhibition: ancient embroideries, sewing techniques, artisanal works, these are the main issues of this show.
Behind this fantastic work of art there is a huge politic and geographical background.
I have treated also the history of India, from the Colonialism to the Indipendence and the role of Khadi ( the typical cotton fabric) as a symbol of national power of freedom.
As Asha Sarhabai maintains, khadi is the fabric of freedom.
